The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix 2020 season-opening race was canceled in Melbourne on Thursday after McLaren’s withdrawal from the race as one of the team members tested positive for the coronavirus.
Formula 1, governing body FIA and Australian Grand Prix Corporation Jointly issued a statement that because of McLaren Racing Team member has tested positive for COVID-19, so the team decided to withdraw from the Australian GP 2020 race. F1 and FIA organize a meeting on Thursday evening resulted that the race should not be played.
With the full support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, F1 and the FIA have therefore decided to cancel all Formula 1 activities for the Australian Grand Prix.
We know this is very unacceptable news for the thousands of fans who will be taking part in the race. All ticket holders will get a full refund and another statement will be made in due course.
