The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2020 which will be held at Imola on 1st November 2020, Formula 1 drivers face a unique challenge and only one practice session will happen before the qualifying round.
As part of the re-adjusted 2020 season for the coronavirus pandemic, the race of Imola was included in the calendar. This is the first Grand Prix held on an Italian circuit since 2006.
Last month when the event was announced, the organizers stated that the event will be a two-day compact weekend. Today, the time for the weekend has been determined.
This format permits one practice session at 10 AM local time on Saturday-instead of the usual three practice sessions on Friday and Saturday-which means that the driver only has 90 minutes to experience the track and complete the car setup. Qualifying will be held at 2:00 pm local time.
The Emilia Romagna GP will be the 3rd race of the season. The other two F1 racing Italian GP at Monza and the Tuscan GP at Mugello will be held in September 2020.
The Imola race will take place on 11 October at the Nürburgring. Since 2013 this is the first time the German circuit has hosted a Grand Prix, while the Portuguese Grand Prix will be held at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão. The event will host an F1 competition for the first time.
As mentioned earlier, Formula One is expected to have 15 to 18 races in the revised 2020 season. The race ends in the Bay Area in mid-December. The final details of the 2020 schedule will be declared in the coming weeks.
