Lewis Hamilton is a Seven-time Formula 1 world champion and he is very confident about Mercedes' chances of winning more titles in 2022, warning his competitors that his team "doesn't make mistakes".
Despite Hamilton hardly missing out on an eighth drivers' title in 2021, his Mercedes team managed to win a record eighth straight constructors' title.
Mercedes' winning streak began with an overhaul of the rules in 2014, when Formula 1 cars switched to turbo-hybrid propulsion. However, with 2022 arguably the biggest rule change in the sport's history, Hamilton was asked during pre-season in Barcelona if he was concerned that Mercedes' crown could slip in the new era of the sport - That suggestion got a strong rebuttal from the Briton.
Why should I think this way? "Hamilton replied.”We have won eight championships in a row. Why do I feel this way?
"My team makes no mistakes," he added. "Of course there is always a risk, but we don't make mistakes. There are a lot of really smart people in the factory and I trust them 100%. Whatever we start today, for better or worse, we're going to try to overcome it. We've always had a great development program and great workforce."
