Juri Vips of Red Bull will make his F1 debut 2022 in Spain GP

This weekend junior driver Juri Vips of Red Bull will make his F1 debut as he climbs into the cockpit of a Red Bull Racing RB18 through the first practice session at the Spanish GP.

Currently, the 21-year-old Estonian eighth in the F2 drivers' standings will drive Sergio Perez's car at the Catalunya-Barcelona circuit.

Since 2018, Vips has been part of the Red Bull youth team, and previously driven an F1 car in a post-season test in Abu Dhabi in 2021.

Vips' chance in Free Practice 1 comes as Red Bull completes one of its two annual mandatory young driver meetings, a new rule introduced ahead of the 2022 season aimed at giving young drivers more opportunities to test their cars in Formula 1.
